Overview
On launch day, reply to every comment and keep a log of what people ask for. Build the requests that come up most, then relaunch. ExploreYC came fifth on its first launch in May 2026; its founder built the API and a16z data people asked for and relaunched in July to #1 Product of the Day with more than 800 upvotes. Marc Lou says you can relaunch a few months later.
A first launch puts the product in front of people who say, in public and on the day, what is missing. ExploreYC's founder treated it as research: commenters wanted more data sources, one asking for other accelerators and a16z, and the relaunch shipped them with a public API. Replies matter on the day too. Product Hunt counts engagement such as comments toward a launch's points, and its commenting guidelines discourage empty congratulations, so a real answer that invites a reply is worth more than thanks. Lera's founder adds a retrospective and onboarding calls with everyone who signed up from the launch.
Fits when
- Products early enough to change quickly after feedback
- Founders who can spend launch day replying
- Launches that landed mid-table rather than at the top

Good to knowFit and evidence notes
- Fit to consider
- Commenters are mostly makers and early adopters, whose requests may not match your buyers; Selling With Nas found his launch visitors signed up at a lower rate than people from his niche.
- About the evidence
- The relaunch result is one founder's account; no source compares relaunching with and without building the requests.
Copy includes 2 more limitations, 4 failure modes, the full evidence, and adaptation guidance.
