Cookies used by Motifs
| Cookie | Purpose | How long |
|---|
| Supabase session cookies | Keep you signed in and authorize account features. | Managed by the authentication session; removed when you sign out or it expires. |
motifs_device | Random ID used for signed-out copy limits and feedback, including carrying a device’s copy count into a new account. | Set for up to 400 days; can be cleared in your browser. |
motifs_welcome | Shows a one-time account welcome message after confirmation. | Up to 2 minutes; the page clears it after showing the message. |
| PostHog analytics cookies | Associate page views, interactions and errors with a browser. Signed-in activity is linked to your account ID and email. | The configured SDK default is up to 365 days; browser settings may shorten this. |
Session, device and welcome cookies support account and copy features. PostHog cookies measure site use. Motifs does not set advertising cookies in the current site. Dodo’s hosted checkout, GitHub sign-in, and Cloudflare Turnstile, when enabled, may use their own cookies or similar technology on their services.
Local browser storage
The plays catalog saves your chosen view and filters in local storage on this device. If you start checkout while signed out, Motifs briefly saves your selected plan in local storage so it can continue after sign-in; the selection expires after 30 minutes and is removed when read. Neither item is an advertising identifier.
PostHog also uses local and session storage for analytics identifiers and session information. These are separate from the Motifs copy allowance and may persist until cleared or reset.
Your controls
You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser. Clearing the device cookie may reset this device’s recognition, but it does not erase account-level copy use or billing records. Blocking sign-in cookies can prevent account and member features from working. See the privacy notice for the information held on the server and how to ask about it.
