Send Every Launch-Day Visitor Back to Product Hunt
Copies it for your coding agent, which checks the fit and builds it · The whole record, as markdown
A launch post sends people one way, from Product Hunt to your site. The banner sends them back. Marc Lou gives it two jobs: bringing Product Hunt visitors back once they have seen the product, and reaching people who arrived from Hacker News, Reddit or X, who would not otherwise know there is a launch. Both he and Harry Dry treat it as a small piece of a wider launch, run alongside their posts and emails. Where they differ is timing: Marc runs it from the start of the day, Harry added his that morning.

Overview
On launch day, add a banner to your site and app saying you are live on Product Hunt for the next 24 hours. Post the launch on Hacker News, Reddit and X the same day. People arriving from those places, and Product Hunt visitors who clicked through to look around, see the banner and can come back to support the launch. Marc Lou does this on every launch, and Harry Dry added one on launch morning.
Fits when
- Products with real traffic to their site or app on launch day
- Founders who can post the launch on Hacker News, Reddit or X the same day
- Web products; a mobile app can show an in-app message instead

Good to knowFit and evidence notes
- Fit to consider
- It only reaches people already coming to your site, so with little traffic it adds little.
- About the evidence
- No source measures what the banner adds on its own; both founders ran it alongside emails and posts.
Copy includes 2 more limitations, 3 failure modes, the full evidence, and adaptation guidance.
