Overview
Instead of accepting the prices the store converts from one base price, test a price per country (higher where conversion holds, lower where demand is limited by price) and judge each on revenue per user, not conversion alone.
The stores' default local prices come from exchange rates, taxes and local pricing patterns, not from local spending power or perceived value: so the default can be too high for a region and cost conversion, retention and lifetime value (Apple and Google documentation).
Fits when
- Apps with enough users per country to split into test groups (Flo)
- Markets where a lower price brings enough conversions to give ad networks the signal to buy traffic profitably (Flo in Brazil)
- Teams who can judge a price on revenue per user with a renewal proxy, not conversion alone

Good to knowFit and evidence notes
- Fit to consider
- A price decrease applies to existing subscribers at once and cannot be reversed, so a lowered price is hard to test back up.
- Also consider
- Avoid a higher price that raises early cancellation enough that modelled year-long revenue falls, even when it wins on new revenue (Mojo).
- About the evidence
- All outcome evidence is company-reported or first-hand; no controlled study of per-country app pricing was found. No source gives sample sizes, baselines, confidence intervals or test dates.
Copy includes 3 more limitations, 2 failure modes, the full evidence, and adaptation guidance.
